You mean the system seems to remove the email address from your message if you type one in?

Yeah, Jeff... I tested it after reading Steve's post and the system removes the email address from a PM after you finish the text entry for the PM and hit "preview".... the email address does not appear in the preview of the PM and then is gone from the message text window....

I checked settings in the backend and I don't see any sort of switch that can correct that.

Strange!
Can't see a reason for it... I've asked on the phpBB3 forums.

Ok, this is not a feature - I think we've found a bug. But it's not there in the unmolested version. The only MOD we have installed is tapatalk, so that's probably where we will start looking.

Squash the bastard! :smt021 Thanks for staying on top of this, Jeff. It'll be interesting to see if Tapatalk is indeed causing the issue....

Hybrid. Your a bloody genius and, further more, an absolute star for all your efforts.

I have nothing more to say on the subject apart from trhe fact that I owe you a beer.

Thanks.

Love the new look.

D.

So it's not tapatalk either. I installed a clean version of phpBB3, installed tapatalk, and the issue is not there.

While that is getting sorted out I've been advised by a friend that if you add quotation marks the email addresses do not get deleted. I've been doing it and it works. "abc@def.com"

Yeah, the issue seems to be something to do with the system detecting it as an email address. Normally, the system would then convert it to a clickable link, but somehow, ours is removing it.

Until this issue is sorted out, you can use the following:

Code: Select all

moo@moo.com
