Downtime expected during move to new server

#1 Post by hybrid » Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:27 pm

Some time over the next couple of days I will be moving the websites to a new server.
I expect some downtime during this process.

Can someone that has a login on the 350 forum please let the guys there know too.

Thanks,
Jeff

One assumes decent offline backups and offlibe database dumps are all lined up just in case the migration goes the way of all migrations - first spends a few hours going south before heading north again ;)

Right??

Well, the site and data is manually backed up, and that's what's moved anyway, but I don't look after backups for the website.
From memory, smurph was scripting offsite backups himself.

All I do is provide the server and data centre.

Anyhoo, the migration is complete. If you can see the website again you're connecting to the new server.

Tom,
you should just be able to use www.rzrd500.com to connect for file transfers. I have been sending emails to an smcomp (I think) email address because I have already cut over your email to google apps.
Do you have access to that email address? If not, let me know your personal gmail account and I will send all the emails there.

I will need to know the username/password you used to use to connect for file transfers.

It's an absolute pleasure providing a service to such a fine group of gentlemen (and the few ladies we have are alright too I guess).

There's no real catch... I do make a fortune out of it though.

It costs me $0, and I charge Tom 20 times as much!
