RG500 Streetfighter Project
Moderator: rztom
The risers were cut down 1/2 " to move the overall bar height lower.
Mount was made to fit the gauges to the top triple clamp.
RG500 steering stem was fitted to the R6 bottom clamp, top bolt drilled for the gas tank breather hose.

I cant wait to see your finished toy,This economy has slowed alot of us down...lol'
Im being honest when I say,Your RZ projects have been the ...BEST I have viewed in person. Frankley NO others Ive seen have come close to the detail and cleanliness of your rides. Your mods ,in some cases are far more than meets the eye at 1st glance, thats a sign of good vision, ideas and practice. And to achive such good quality and great bikes, without reinventing the wheel and going silly custom..is a testemant to your dedication. Ive watched people spend 20k on some bikes and sure their great bikes,,but your carefull assembly and good eye....meets them head on all at a budget well below some of the exotic creations. I like them all and respect their approach..but what you do with ...what you have..is impressive.
Keep up the good fun!

Re: New toy (RG) for streetfighter project
The picture web host I was using sold out to another company so I have to go in manually and replace the pictures.
I am getting tires for the rims, I put angled valve stems on the rims and I am waiting to get the rg500.com radiator.
I'm getting the swing arm ready for powder coating.
I will post pics soon.

Re: New toy (RG) for streetfighter project
I lost many of the pictures on my post due to Webshots going out of business and having to retrieve my photos before they took them down. I had to go in and repost the missing photos.
(Pain the ass!)
Getting things ready for powder coating, need to mask off and select areas not to be coated.
I noticed the top section of the swingarm had uneven spots so I spent some time sanding the areas smooth.
It will look smoother once powder coated.

Re: New toy (RG) for streetfighter project
I re-read the whole thread with the pictures back. Outstanding!
That swingarm is beautiful.
Do you have the frame back from RGVsteve?

Re: New toy (RG) for streetfighter project
I did get it back, I am working on getting the little notches in the frame sanded out and cleaning it up before powder coating.
Also putting some texture on the ignition hole so it blends with the frame texture.

Re: New toy (RG) for streetfighter project
Just received a new Yamaha outer fork tube to replace the scratched up one. I also got a set of lighter fork springs from Race Tech.
Re: New toy (RG) for streetfighter project
Seat re-upholstered with memory foam in the center section.

I polished the tail light lens and took off the lettering on the bottom of the light.
Had to be very careful as to not burn the lens with too much pressure with the buffing wheel.
Before and after pics.
I am doing one more thing to the tail light but will reveal that at a later time when I am finished with it.

Re: RG500 Streetfighter Project
The frame is coming along, blending the ignition hole in with the texture of the frame and cleaning up some flaws on the frame.
Painted the areas black to see where I need to do more work on the frame, there are still a few small areas that need work. The sand blasting before the powder coating will cover some of the smaller flaws and blend things in smoother.
