It is getting a bit crazy isn't it?

For the price of a brand new Yamaha R1M and YEC race kit or a shiny new CBR1000RR SP2 + HRC kit one could buy a good condition RG500 and set about restoring it - then not want to ride due to cost :)

Hi Mate, i no what your saying but the rg500 will not drop like a brick in price as soon as you take it out of the garage and when you come to sell it you have to take a price cut to move it on. i want one to restore and keep this time because i have sold my other one in the past and miss the old two stroke from when i was a kid. And i have a r1 sp with a race kit fitted anyway so i no what i am talking about with the case of the R1m.

Cheers Lew.

Its cheaper to buy a bike already in good running condition. You are in the UK and the ones I know for sale are in the US or Canada, how much are you willing to spend?

Hi Guys, just to let all of you no. I have just been lucky enough to get my hand on a genuine 1 previous owner rg500g that has been in the back of a guys garage for the past 28 years just rotting away. Its a real shame to see how the bike looks after all this time in the garage but all the better for me. according to when the owner said to me is that he had bought the bike in 1990 off the first owner with 3000 miles on it and then he road it in 1995 and put 2000 miles on it he then had a bad stroke which stopped him from working and driving his car and bike. so it has been left since then in a damp garage until i uncovered two weeks ago. Its in a sad state but give it some love and attention and it will be back on the road. If any of you guys can help me out with some parts for it that would be great. I am after a front lower right hand carburetor and a really nice swing arm and a pair of fairing side panels in blue and white if possible.

Cheers to all Lew.
