Hi Vin,

This one is about finished bar the cosmetic details with the fairings and will be done early next year.

Going for a XR89 Colour scheme - Blue & White - Fairings i have are GRP and fit really well but i am getting a mould made of them for a set of Carbon ones which should finish it off ok.

Still trying to do a deal with someone i know for a carbon frame. However i have a contact for a Moto 2 FTR Frame and also looking at a Bimota V Due engine to put in it. This will be the last one i do... Said i would leave it when i did the XR89 but just cannot and want to build some thing a little different this time. If the Bimota engine does not come off i will probably go for the RD750 which i have also looked into but i think unproven at the moment and i am waiting for someone to get one up and running!

Are you going to Stafford on Sunday? If so will see you there - A few nice 2 stroke bikes in the Bonhams Auction!

Thanks Ade

Vin

Hi Ronnie,

Yes gone a little quite from my side - But pressing on with it.

I am getting the fairings and hugger moulded at the moment in preparation for a Carbon set to finish the bike off - Should have a set back in 2 weeks.

Painting has been booked for 4 weeks in XR89 colours

The rest of the bike is finished, but not started it as yet! (Always a nervous time)

Electrical side was the main thing left to do but this is now done and it now has Zeeltronics, Map Control, Digi Dash, and Quick Shifter working.

I will post a few more pictures once the fairings come back and prior to painting and then once the bike is completed.

Unsure what I am going to do after that! Got a Norton P11 Desert Racer that I have just brought so want to try to get that started, but preference would be to start a final Two Stroke build around a Moto 2 frame and leave the Norton or when I Retire!

Thanks Ade

Great. Looking Forward to seeing the paintwork all complete. Sounds like it's going to be a beast!

You may need a bigger garage....

Hi,

I will have the moulds completed this weekend.

Then there will be 3 sets made:

Carbon - Lightweight Twill - GRP

I will put forward all of the specifications - Weights etc. once I have them.

I have ensured that the quality of the moulds is 100% so there is no finishing required and the joints are very tidy.
The person making them is very quality conscious, and makes some outstanding pieces.
He also will make them in good time, without long waiting periods.

The front and rear fairings are exact copies of the original XR89 bike
I have also had adapted an additional mould which incorporates a lift up lid and also a piece which come out underneath the rear wheel so you can gain easy access and also allows you to remove the fairing "a lot" easier (if you have one of these bikes you will know what I mean!
I will post up pictures of the fairings, one the bike and on there own so people can have a good luck of the quality etc.

Thanks for the enquiry, and yes making you a few sets will not be a problem.

I might also be producing an exact copy of a YZR 500 Sabre from the original moulds, but I will see how these ones go first.

Thanks Ade

Hi,

Yes they will fit the RGV range with an RG500 engine.

I have a different front and rear sub frame on my bike but have a 500 engine fitted along with bigger carbs.

The overall fit is excellent as I have had a set already fitted to the bike and they look great.

I will post up pictures in the next 2 weeks once I have them back.

Thanks

Ade, you rule. Are the tail sections going to be self supporting?

As well, do you know where I can find a 96-98 YZR500 self suppporting or one for use with a subframe tail piece?

What did you do for front suspension on your build? I want to keep using the RSV1000R or RSV1000 forks but I cannot find a triple clamp. I know that you can use the GSXR front suspension, but I want to use Ohlins.

Ade, I just googled the YZR 500 Sabre and I believe this might be similar to 97-03 YZR500 in style. If this is the case I will most likely take a self supporting carbon unit as well.

Please list pricing and pics.

Its true, your bike will be a great XR89 replica. I would like to learn more about the subframe and added top frame as well as the plating on the sides of the frame.

What did you do for a tank?

Hi

The XR89 rear fairing will not be self supported but use a rear sub frame but the Sabre one is self supporting.

The forks are Ohlins from an RSV4 which are about the same as the RSVR and the yokes are from an original XR89 GP bike which I was luck to have and still have one set left!

Thanks Ade

Bit of a surprise is the tank!

I will put it on the bike when I take pictures of the Carbon fairings and see if you guys can identify it?

Took a bit of working out but I think it finishes the bike off nicely and matches the fairings well.

Thanks Ade
