Spotted this while having a peruse. Not the usual scheme for an RD500, but HB nonetheless.

An Haitch Bee Yamaha... in what looks like Suzuki clothing - now that does look different.

I like the simple clean look of the rear sets. Although that gear shift is a really long throw.

Not quite the same as the scroll edge shield on the period correct decal, but it is a start.

Emanuel & Co looks to have all sorts of replacement decal sets for many different bikes - including a number of RG500 sets.

The closest to what I need is an NSR HB Racing decal set.

Are the bearings and seals needed for crank rebuilding still available from Suzuki?

Looks like the seller abandoned their eBay account - I hope the decal sets get delivered.
Not the best feeling when an established eBay seller with 4000 feedback up and closes their storefront before delivering goods already paid for.

Well, this bike will be a full rolling chassis long before it has a working engine.

Managed to locate a pukka XR45 tail piece to go along with the XR45 fairing, it should arrive from Japan in the next shipment - now just have to figure out the source for a period alloy tank.

What is the stock RG500 shock length? I am looking for a decent modern substitute.

I do believe the XR45 will be a rolling chassis long before the NS500

XR45 bodywork has arrived and finally managed to do a mockup of the RG500 frame and swing arm with XR45 bodywork and 18"/17" Marvic wheels using 1986 GSXR750 forks. (which for all I know may be the same as RG500 forks as they bolted right up)

I have located an alloy RG500 road bike tank - should be here by the end of the month.

The race RG500 frame must be much shorter and smaller than the road bike - the street bike frame dwarfs the race bike body work. I am wondering if the RG250 frame might not be a better starting point for this replica.
