RG500 VIN Number question?

RG500 VIN Number question?
Recently purchased a 86 RG500, not really familiar with the vin system for Suzuki, do the frame and engine numbers need to be matching? the numbers on the engine and frame are totally different. I know the Yamahas the sequential is the same(matching numbers) but I am trying to find out if that is true on the rg500s?

Engine and frame numbers do not match on the rg500.
