There is a reason we don't hear much about big engine NS400R builds. It is very expensive and very difficult. There is no straight forward approach.

I recall another 500 kit for sale in Australia years ago, pretty sure it was DMR but if not DMR then there have been 3 suppliers

For the sort of ££ we are talking here you may as well go and buy a NS500!

One sold at bonhams last year in the UK for £23,000 which was a steal

Wow - that 23,000 queens is a steal.

I have been following an RS500 in Japan - when I found it years ago the price was USD$45K, it has crep to USD$65K. And the gent is still not convinced he wants to sell. Same thing with a few RGB500s I tracked down. Their asking prices are both in the USD$75K range.

Honestly, I might have rather bought that UK RS500 in place of the CBR1000RR SP2. LOL

This uses bored stock cylinders - looked at this setup 4 or 5 years ago. Havent seen any DMR setups out and about so figured why not go for something totally different :)

having seen one of Ian Wrights big bored prepped NS400s at Cadwell lapping at (class) record pace few weeks ago, it looks and sounds a pretty impressive set up, how close that is to the 475"over the counter" kit im not sure...

I believe the CR125 barrel is an exact fit for the NS400 so am not sure no body has gone down this route as yet.

Would have thought with a little fettling of the barrel to look at the overall tune it may have been a starter.

Any one know if this has been done yet?

I chatted with Ian some years ago about doing his 475 kit. For me being in the USA I was trying to consolidate shipping etc. One idea was to buy a suitable donor engine from Dan over at Gecko, send it directly to Ian and have the big bore work done to it then ship the completed motor out here.

That is still my 'last resort' goto - and as the years tick by and donor NS400's dry up I supposed I ought to pull that trigger sooner than later LOL

Then again I am intrigued by the true 499cc nature of the new production DMR barrels.
