It would seem that the serial numbers for each production run are correct but it is not the full picture. The list does not show the 47X and 1GE model bikes but i am working on getting this info now i have a contact at Yamaha UK .I now know how many 47x and 1GE bikes came to the UK and will post the letter i got from Yamaha confirming this soon if anyone wants to see it .

Steve , I figured you were on it ... that's why I posted the letter in this section .. so just speculating / guessing by what was built by adding the 1GE & 47X bikes , how many total could there be ? 10K units ??

And were all,, lets say 52X bikes made at the same production run / time frame or were the different models mixed together on the assy. line ? just curious if anyone has that info ...but really just trying to nail down total units produced ...... cheers

I have spoken to my contact at Yamaha UK again and it seems even their records do not make it very clear  .He spent a long time on the phone going over the numbers but it seems that all their stuff was rearchived in the mid 1990`s and some info is lost forever.I still hope to get a reply from Yamaha Japan but this will take some time. This is what i know for now but it may not be 100% correct.I will keep you all up todate as i find out more.
This is what we know to be correct.

This is the info i have.
SERIAL NO. 47X000101 - (First production run)
SERIAL NO. 47X00???? - (Second production run)

SERIAL NO. 1GE000101 - Here is the letter from Yamaha UK,where the date says 1986 this should be 1985.The last bike into the UK was .The last 1GE was

Thanks for your effort Steve :smt023

Then considering some were used for race purposes thrashed and crashed and just general wrecks and salvaged the numbers were thinned some for sure I would guess ...... a very rare trick production 2 stroke indeed ... :-)

This was in a 1986 uk bike magazine which confirms the number of 1ge bikes sold in 1985 leaving just over which were sold in 1986/87.
