Manual / Photo help please

#1 Post by sennascod » Thu Apr 26, 2012 4:47 pm

Dear Sirs,
My nane is Steve, living in Tamworth Staffs UK, i am new to the forum due to a full nut & bolt rebuild of my 1GE RD500, it was a good find, 1 owner & 1020 miles from new, had been sat in owners moms garage after moving abroad 3 months after buying it new in 85,
I have 90% completed the rebuild including engine (stan) but am struggling to remember how all the brackets & fixtures go & cable and wiring loom routing etc, Please can anyone help me with a ledgable workshop manual/photos, I am more than willing to buy, hire this information, I know ther are a few free manuals out there on line/cd or hard copies for sale but they are very poor detail and not much help, I have tried every avenue i know to try and locate a genuine Yamaha one but no longer available anywhare,
Please if there is any one that can help or point me in the right direction this would be very appreciated

welcome, the manuals etc are available on this site, in the literature forum, also do searches you will find all kinds of info regarding the rebuild, including pics etc. The manuals listed here print well and youtube has the service videos available. good to have you on board.

I hear you on the quality of the manual.
I have a reproduction one , and an original one.
They both suck, but the reproduction one's pictures were marginally better.
I don't know what was up with the copier they used for the photos, but much was lost in translation, if you know what I mean.
The text is good though.
I'm not aware of any Haynes or Clymer's manuals for this bike.
If you can get your hands on an original, they have a nice colour foldout page for wiring schematics and cable/hose routings.
Sincerely, Gary P.

I saw that one yesterday too, probably as good as you will find, Definitely a nicer cover than the ones I have.

Thankyou to all for your help with finding a manual, Any other photos of side views of bike without fairings would be a great help,
Regards Steve.

Welcome to the group.

1601pete has great pics from his amazing restore, there are a few of the sides with fairing off, that helped me a ton. Here is a link to his pics, (hope you dont mind Pete) I spent a lot of time looking at the posts from 1601Pete, Vin and Jackson.40 among many others, while trying to figure out how to put humpty back together.
