Houston - we have a problem!

#1 Post by rztom » Tue May 12, 2009 11:10 pm

OK, so.... I get this notice from Paypal yesterday that this website is violating their "acceptable use policy" for allowing payments thru Paypal for "gaming" purposes...

Seems they feel our raffle is "gambling" and they frown on that - see below:
You may not use PayPal to buy or sell tickets, vouchers, or any other "opportunity" to participate in a lottery or any other game of chance, whether privately-run or administered by a state. This includes, but is not limited to, raffles, drawings, sweepstakes, pools, or any other form of game/contest involving the distribution of prizes or monetary compensation.
They have threatened to shut down my Paypal account unless I remove Paypal as a method of payment for the bike build raffle.... :-x

So.... here's what I suggest - if you want in on the raffle and haven't "donated" yet, and want to pay for it thru Paypal, DO IT NOW!

I will have to remove Paypal as a payment method for the "deal" within the next 24 hours or so, so get your tickets now.

BUT... don't put "Bike Build Raffle" in the payment anywhere - just say "donation" or something to that effect.... as we're being "monitored"... :-x

We will still continue to accept entires for the raffle, even after this payment setback, until the original end date of June 28th or so, but I'll have to come up with another method of "ticket purchase" soon.... 8-)

Any ideas? Other than a personal check?

Tom,
Pay pal seems to have shut you out from receiving payments already.
I'm not a complete idiot...some parts are missing.

Gus... good idea

What's your paypal account address?

They also have told me I'm cleared of "wrongdoing" now, so I'm also good to go, but I should lay low for a bit...

I think any future raffle purchases should be tagged as Gus had mentioned... "goods"... or I think "donation" will work. If it's $25 USD, we'll know what it's for.... :D
