Swingarm

#16 Post by RGVSTEVE » Sat May 02, 2009 7:08 pm

Tom,

YZF750 swingarm is close to the stock RZ arm if your just looking for
a nicer looking arm then the stock RZ unit.

Thanks for the feedback, Steve...

That is a nice looking arm, and it looks nice and stiff, too, although I'm wondering on how available one might be?

Also, it's not a banana style, so GP pipes would be out....

Tom, I have an NSR MC21 swingarm which is the gull arm type. I'm willing to donate it towards the build if needed. I also have a stock rz arm if any pieces are needed from it to fit nsr arm. RGVSteve would know the details I'm sure.

Did we agree on GP pipes then? If so, I can throw in a set of Nikon (or is it Nikkon?) GP pipes. Lower right pipe has some road-rash, but it's fixable.

Any interrest?

If I had a signature, it would be good.

Absolutely, Steen.... thanks! Hold on to them for now and I'll get back to you....

How do you feel they performed? Where these the pipes you had on when you went down at the track?

My feeling was that the mid-range was as with stock pipes, but quite a bit stronger at high revs. Compared to the JL pipes I use now, they seemed more rev-happy

-And yeah - they were on when I went down the track

Rev-happy... I like that. Kinda like my Toomey's - very "rev-happy"... should lend a lot of "character" to the build bike 8-)

Sorry guys for the lack of any news here lately.... now that the website meltdown from the past week has solidified, let me post up an update to the build...

I had to change jobs a couple of months ago and am working longer hours now, so haven't had much time to spend here....

We're trying to get Gus nailed down.... seems he can't decide where he wants to live these days and he has been doing a lot of traveling about. :D We're waiting for him to pull some engine parts together.

Steve Murphree is going to take on the engine build. But, like me, he has just changed jobs too and is working longer hours as well, so once things settle down a bit for him he'll start spinning the wrenches...

I am also waiting to hear from Gus as to what available chassis parts he has, so we can start planning that phase of the build and begin to post up parts requests here.

Stay tuned....
