Parts manual with pictures - i need help

#1 Post by Speed Freak » Tue Jan 22, 2013 5:18 am

I need your help!
I have digitized the entire parts catalog of the 1GE and will summarize all the data of the parts in a database (with a picture).

As an example:
Image

At the time it`s in microsoft excel.
When it is finished it should be a database with all informations like thread diameter/length/head dimension of all screws, the data of standardized bearings like the swing arm bearing (IKO TA2428Z), color codes, material, alternative parts (aftermarket) for parts that are not longer available and so on.
At the weekend i was taking pictures of the swing arm and shock absorber parts.
There are 2 screws, according to the parts manual, they should be the same but i have 2 different screws :smt017

Can someone give me a picture and the dimensions (thread diameter/length, length to head, shaft diameter, hexagon dimension, head height) of the original screw?

Thanks!

RD500 YPVS 1GE
RD350 YPVS 31K 1985
Honda CBR 1000 RR SC57
Yamaha R1 RN04

Often the information is in the part #. 10340 would be a 10 mm bolt that is 34 mm long, at least that is generally the case.

But when you order a original yamaha screw, do you want to get the same as in the bike or do you want to get another one that doesn`t fit in the hole?

Same length, same thread diameter but the shaft diameter is different.
The first one doesn`t fit into the hole of the second one.
This screw is not longer available from yamaha, so i can`t order it to see what i get :smt019
When there are differences between parts (just another color or something), they normally get another part number.

Are there production differences between 47X and 1GE?
My RD is a 1GE but i think it is one of the first 1GE because i have welded handlebars and not the 1GE with casted clamps.
So i think it can be that other parts are also no "1GE parts"

In the 1GE fiche both bolts are the same. In the 47X fiche they are different. If you check the 47x fiche you'll see that the shock bolt, index #8 has a different part #. For the 47x application it's 90105-10323. The way I understand it, it should be a 10 mm bolt 32 mm long, but I'm not sure what the last 3 means. It might very well mean that it has a different shaft thickness. Keep in mind that the fiche is never perfect and there are errors that pop up every now and then, so at some point you will run into things that just don't make sense.

Yamaha, like all maunfactures, will supersed part #s. Sometimes the superseded parts just don't fit or work properly. I seem to recall this being the case with the RZ350 shift forks. Yamaha superseded the Rz350 shift fork part#s with Banshee #s and they are different parts. I've run into the same problem with Honda and my NS400R.

As for your bolt problem, take the good one to any industrial fastener store and they'll match it up for you. That won't help if you need the exact colour for a restoration, but if all you need is the right sized bolt they'll get you sorted out.

And thats the information i need :smt002
thanks

There is just the question, is it really a mistake or are there 1ge bikes with 2 same bolts?

i want that my database is correct, so i need your help
Where can i find the 47x parts manual?
The link i've found here doesn't work and yamaha has just the 1ge manual on the homepage

My RD is a 1GE but i think it is one of the first 1GE because i have welded handlebars and not the 1GE with casted clamps.
So i think it can be that other parts are also no "1GE parts"

The IGE bikes left the factory with welded clip on bars as per the 47X bikes.
The 1GE clip on was only available if you ordered the part from a Yamaha dealer,it never came with the 1GE bikes from new.

If you PM me your frame number i will check the machine register to see if i have any history on your bike.
