Just acquired RZV500R Frame 51X and Engine 47X

#1 Post by scramick » Wed May 12, 2010 10:41 am

Hello guys,
I just acquired a 1984 RZV500R. The frame is 51X and the engine 47X. Does this mean this is not the original engine that came with the bike?
Thanks

Does this lower the value of the bike?

I think what you are looking at is the generic casting code on the case - the engine number is near the 2T pump and shoulbe be something like 47X-000*** or in your case as Steve says 51X-00****

I got a motor with a 29L - 00*** number - seems someone had it in a 350? at some point.

cheers.
