Re: 47X AND 1GE WHAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT ?
Hi all.
I found another difference.
On 47X there are 2 covers on top of rear pipes end bolted on sub-frame that didn't make it in 1GE.
Items 22 and 23, and the stay 12 has a different part number.
Also on 1GE there is a new protector, item 23.

The 47X and 1GE wiring looms are different.
The 47X bikes had wiring loom part number 47X8259070
This loom hasn't got the extra earth terminal which goes on the lower reg screw on the 1GE bikes
The 1GE bikes had wiring loom part number 47X8259071
This loom has an extra earth terminal which goes on the lower reg screw as seen in this photo

They tend to crack around the mountings, i think over the years owners took them off and lost them

I have a 1986 52X loom (52X-82590-51). Should you ever decide to add this to your list let me know and I'll get photos for you.

Re: 47X AND 1GE WHAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT ?
The 47X and 1GE rear mudguards
47X REAR MUDGUARD
Part number 47X2161100
The 47X bikes had a problem with the rear mudguard melting on the upper exhausts so a heat protector was added to the 1GE bikes
This is a 1GE rear mudguard without the heat protector fitted which has melted
1GE REAR MUDGUARD
Part number 47X2161101
Because of the upper exhaust melting the rear mudguard on the 47X bikes Yamaha fitted a heat protector to the 1GE bikes.
One thing i am not sure about is did the 1GE bikes leave the factory with only one heat protector fitted to the right hand side(the 1GE pre-production bikes only had one fitted to the right hand side)or if two were fitted?
Could someone check their bike for me?
This is a photo of the 1GE Pre-production rear mudguard with only one heat protector fitted
The heat protector came as a set from Yamaha part number 1GE2165200

Same, just the one heat shield on the right...was a good excuse to pull the cover off and have a look at her..
Really interesting thread Steve, keep up the good work.
