Re: Pre-Production TDR250
Look at that bad boy! It's like the apex of the 80s on two wheels. Congratulations John, that's a fine addition to any stable.

Congrats ..They are huge fun...and super comfy too..
In the UK anyway, that paint scheme came on the later bikes , the 1988 models where a more solid black/yellow or blue/yellow.

Bike looks great. We never got any of the cool stuff down here in the states. Two strokes died with the RZ350.
I am somewhat curious how your bike avoided the crusher. Maybe the Canadian rules differ or maybe just slipped through the cracks. Glad it escaped somehow.

Re: Pre-Production TDR250
The story on this bike is that it was given to a Yamaha Canada race team member by Yamaha Canada to repay a perceived debt that was owed due to the racer blowing up his knee. The bike stayed in the hands of this ex-Yamaha racer and 2 of his closest racing friends until a few months ago. The gentleman I got the bike from acquired it from the last racer to own the bike. That last racer owned this bike since 1995. The chain of ownership is well documented from the bike's arrival in Canada to it coming to me last week. It is all in the Ontario MTO database. The gentleman I got it from called Yamaha Canada recently. He was told that the VIN was for a TDR250, but he couldn't have 000001 because the bike was supposed to have been crushed in 1990. It looks like Yamaha Canada has something to do with the bike escaping the crusher.AHAMAYfrank wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 12:05 pm Bike looks great. Re: Pre-Production TDR250
Canada only got the TDR250 for 2 years. 1989 and 1990. The 1989 bikes were all Yellow and Black. The 1990 bikes were all Sweet Blue. Very few TDRs were sold here. Less in 1990 than in 1989. I have never seen any TDR on the road here.

Re: Pre-Production TDR250
That is a wonderful story about the bike's history. I suppose it must have been one of the sales guys at YMCA that saved it, the test group would never get away with such a maneuver.silverstrom wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 3:06 pm The story on this bike is that it was given to a Yamaha Canada race team member by Yamaha Canada to repay a perceived debt that was owed due to the racer blowing up his knee.
