the rear sprocket was taller because of db levels or noise restrictions in japan

The red speed light problem is easy to solve. Remove the bulb.

I may have a speedo if needed.

The only RZ350 with the same mirrors as the RZ500 is the 1985 Cdn or Aus RZ350, or the 1985 RD350 F1. RZ/RD350 mirrors from 1986 and on were unique to the RZ/RD350.

Do you have a photo showing the back of the mirrors on the bike now? Given the rarity of 1985 RZ/RD350 mirrors and RZ500 mirrors you may find the mirrors on the bike now are actually aftermarket copies.

I see a good sized crack on the right front mid panel. I have a solution for that.

Contact me if you need more information.

I do enjoy the red light and having it on most of the time   :smt005 :smt006

I know that the RZV500 mirrors will work on my 1990 Canadian RZ350. you can also find the same mirrors on a RZ250 Japanese model.

No, RZV rear sprocket is a 38 teeth sprocket like the european RD/LC and australian ones.
The only bike with a bigger sprocket was the canadian one ( 40 teeth ).

correct RZV by having a 38 tooth is a taller gear so when you go by a db reader at a certain speed. your rpm are lower than than a 40 tooth at the same speed with a higher rpm making more noise

Both pics are Japanese home market bikes.
The first picture is from a 1988 RZ350, which is what my mirrors look like now....mine look like factory mirrors on the backside.
Second pic is for a 1984 RZ350, which is the same as I need...So I need to look for mirrors off RZ250RR/RZ350RR/and RZV500...should all be the same if from the same year 84/85...?

Until I have the bike in my hands, not much I can do except start collecting parts I think I'll be needing (wheel bearings/swing arm bearings/bushings/steering head bearings/fork seals/brake pads/brake lines/tires/exhaust/possibly Zeel ignition.....the list could prove to be endless I'm afraid)...body work does have cracks and the bellypan looks pretty beat....

Happy New Years to all of you.....

I don't mean to complicate things, but to be accurate and perhaps help others with mirror questions, the RZ/RD350 mirrors in your first parts list image are not the same as RZ500 mirrors. They may look like it in the parts list image, but the shape is very different from the side and rear and they have a different part # (1VU-)

It looks like all Japanese RZs and the RZV got the same, so that does open up the options.

Perfect! They look to be in nice shape. You'll likely be able to offset the cost of the RZV mirrors by selling or trading those. Perhaps someone on the forum is in need. Finding a pair in any condition is difficult. In excellent condition they are quite rare.

It never ends. Finish one, start another, or two, or three. All part of being in the collective. Resistance is futile. :smt032

Very true....I seem to always have several that are so close to being done, but I can't get them to my 100% satisfaction.
The previous project only seems to get finished, when I have a new project sitting on the table waiting for me.

In all honesty the last thing I need is another bike to get road worthy again....but who can say no to a RZV... :smt007
....it's an addiction...
