Re: Stevef RZ 500 Modified
Hi Stevef
That's is a such a great looking bike, it keeps the look of the original magnificently.
I am nearing completion of a similar upgrade, without the fancy wheels, swingarm and forks though, a little less ambitious all up. I have used an alloy RZVR frame as my centerpiece.
Could you tell me about the mirrors? I would like to find a pair that is smaller than the original, like you have, and ideally fits to the original threaded ends in the fairing bracket. Where are yours fitted, and what bike did they come off of?
Cheers, thanks
Stefan

Re: Stevef RZ 500 Modified
Stefan they are just cheap KOSO mirrors off ebay. I think they look way better than the original deer antlers
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Black-KOSO-U ... 58974d52f6
They are made to bolt to handle bars, but i just cut the handle bar mounts off the end, Re-shaped the ends on a linisher and drilled holes through the mirror stem and bolted them on. You can't use the rubbers that cover the holes in the fairing but that didn't bother me.
You can't see much out of them unless you lift your arm up but for me that is OK because i never rely on mirrors on a bike i always look over my shoulder.
Hybrid I am from just south of newcastle at Swansea.
We need to get all these bikes that are local together one day for a ride.
Between the 500 and 350 side of the forum it would be a good roll up.

Re: Stevef RZ 500 Modified
There used to be Sydney rides organised on the 2strokesdownunder website, but the guy who used to organise them sold his stroker, so they haven't happened since.

Thanks fred I had a great weekend.
Nice to meet you and hopefully I will see you there next year with your bike.
Aaron I don't do facebook either but a track day would be great.
Or even a ride somewhere, it would be great to get a few of these bikes together.

Re: Stevef RZ 500 Modified
Very tasteful indeed. I see you also moved the pegs back. Looks so much cleaner without the big bulky brackets. What tires did you decide on. I thought they were Michelins but the tread pattern is different. Again beautiful bike. Did you take all the photos? If so nice job on that also. This is what the forum is about, quality bikes.
Re: Stevef RZ 500 Modified
It looks great, old school, but with a modern toutch.
I'm also a one and only owner, mine was bought into SA from Yamaha France, but I'm still considering selling it decisions, decisions..
BTW, what springs did you use in your RGV front end? I used K-Tech but I still find them a bit on the soft side.
Great looking bike!

Re: Stevef RZ 500 Modified
Hi Andrew I used race tech springs in my RGV front end but I cant remember what rate springs they were.
I have used ohlins springs in the R6 front end, but a mate of mine is a suspension technician and he did the set up and valving.
I don't know the specs I will have to get the spec sheet off him with all the info.
Pstamper the tyres are Pirelli Diablo supercorsa
The footpegs are the original RZ ones with all the excess aluminium cut off.
Pics were taken by me with a canon EOS digital camera.
