Need a VERY Specific RD/RZ Specialist/Custom Builder/Tuner!

#1 Post by JungleJustice » Thu Dec 02, 2010 4:17 pm

So, I have this one bike running and on the road for the most part, but now it needs fine-tuning of the Mikuni flat-slides, some custom bracketry, correct setup and tuning of the FZR forks and rear suspension / shock / spring, as well as potentially some engine work! (The bike is an absolute demon, but still - the compression ranges from 150/155 to 160/165, to 170/175 and 180...! AMAZED that it runs like it does and it's crazy to even imagine that there is more to be had once the compression is even and the jetting is perfect!

Low-down she falls flat on her face, but around the mid-range point this thing comes alive; up top it just barely skims the road! I am used to high-powered bikes, but this thing is nuts - it would be interesting to find out what was actually done to this motor before I bought it and to then see how it can run - once sorted!

The suspension has almost no travel at the rear even after moving the shock-arm tabs and the front suspension has some clunky issue going on that I don't fully understand (almost like the shock fully extends/locks as the wheel moves forward/down after going over a bump!) It needs re-valve’ing / springs / proper oil / setup or something!

I need custom brackets for the headlight (possibly a different light / option), the indicators sorted, proper battery location / bracket - things like that... I want to install an aftermarket ignition and YPVS controller and I want new custom expansion pipes built! The body-work can come after that! For now it can remain this naked-bike / cafe-style open beast until everything else is sorted! I can get the seat recovered here once I have a direction on the body-work.

Who would be an all-around master that I can ship this thing to, in order to help me sort it!? The closer to Seattle, the better! Perhaps somebody local? I am not looking for somebody who is going to tell me that stock is better - I have another (stock-stock) bike. This is a former full race bike that I have now all put back together in an RZV aluminium frame from Japan with most everything modified to fit as-is already!

I want to work with what I have as much as possible - where sensible.

Thanks, JvR
