OW69 Fuel Tank question - Bodywork Molds?
Moderator: rztom
Sorry not as yet,Ronnie wrote:Any luck with yzr fairing moulds yet?
I will be getting a bike with a STD Alloy frame to fit it to, then it will need some mods for the airfilters/box to be fitted ect.
this will be August, Sorry but only one pair of hands,
I have been very busy with parts that went to the Isle of Man, so just got back and getting started again.
Been fitting a large radiator plus a few other things to the TZR,
Also made this for a customer with a Honda CB900RR
Manitoba Mike,
I will make a seat for you no problem, you, I will send you a PM later.
You can have any color you like as long as its white!

Hi Custommade, custommade wrote:Beautiful job on the swingarm is it a skin or
a full carbon arm?
Thanks for the kind comments.
To answer to your question:-
We fabricate structural carbon fibre components to order. The arm on the Fireblade has had the torsion strength at the shock and upper braced areas increased in line with a more modern design. This is done by creating an integrated ‘strong box’ design with a composite of Carbon fibre and Kevlar & other composites. The resultant structure increases the properties of the arm without adding much if any appreciable weight, however, it is not very aesthetic. Therefore, we added further composites to gain the shape you see and shrouded it, again with a carbon/kevlar mix, thus improving strength further. This arm was requested by a customer and was developed to suit their requirements as a carbon swing arm is not available for this particular machine. To achieve what the customer was looking for would have meant utilising an arm that had been developed for a different bike with different dimensions. This would have required alterations to the new arm, the frame, different wheels, brakes etc – a very costly exercise.
We can do as much or as little to a frame or swing arm to improve its strength without adding much weight whilst maintaining all the standard fitments. This process is not generally suited to more modern bikes as they are already strong enough.
Our system has been developed for older components of any shape to improve their strength. This will facilitate better handling for the machine with the added benefit of a very modern and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Here’s the std swingarm.
If anyone knows of a TZ fairing which is a similar shape to the OW68/69 Please let me know even if it requires some reshaping, as I have now been asked by a few people if I will make the molds for this fairing.
Many thanks
Best regards
Johnny C.
Thanks I was told to contact Bill Roberts, but didn't know where he was from.
"Thanks I will let you know how I get on".......

Phoned Bill Roberts, nice guy however he's only got a TZ500 (G) mold & TZ700 molds,
so back to the drawing board, unless I mix & match as "RC45" has suggested.

There are holes in the sky where the rain gets in, but the holes are small, thats why the rain is thin

In all the excitement of my trip to Florida to pick up the Demon Bike project I neglected to report on the arrival of my OW69 tail piece.
Johny, thanks again for a product that far exceeded expectations. A lovely piece. You are a true craftsman in a time when few people take this much pride and care in their products.
I cannot wait to see what you come up with for an OW69 fairing - my plate is currently full so I do not mind the wait, but am looking forward to it.
Without dedicated craftsman such as yourself willing to go the extra mile to R&D the custom parts we need, our hobby of "silly customs" would be long dead.
To help keep the spirit alive until the fairings are complete here is a link to the YouTube of the 1983 Daytona 200 and the YZR680 in action on the high banking.

Thanks Johnny C !!!
This seat is indeed very well crafted. The weight of fiber is just right to keep it rigid and tough while still keeping it racing light. Shinny smooth finish, and in my color too ( white ) !
Shipping to Canada took like 2 days ( faster than a RZ500 could do it !! that fast )
I think a half loop bracket where the rear sub frame used to attach to the frame, and maybe a small C bracket glued on under front to catch the cross frame like the original seat does should keep it on.
Ill go try it
I'm in for the rest if\when you can create the fairing too ?
Thanks again JC

Thanks for your comments I am very pleased that you are all happy with them.
As for the fairing I will make one but I can’t start this until about September/October as I have to complete my current orders/projects, I am sure you will understand as its bad practice.
The fairing will be fitted to an RZV500 and hope to make a fitting kit.
I will be in touch later in the year.
As for the YZR500 moulds, I hope to make a start on these sometime in August.
Many thanks again for your custom.
Best regards
Johnny C.
