I'm not sure how there made. My bike had something other than stock in it when I bought it and the shape of the piston was wore right into the rear jugs. The piston that was in it was much shorter and had arc cut into the front to clear the intake of the bike it was made for. At bottom dead center the piston didn't touch the bridge between the intake ports. There may be other aftermarket pistons that are better than what came with my bike, but I don't think any will last as long as the tall stock pistons.
