Re: RD500LC for sale

Yeah, got a little manic in the last 5s. Although 3 people have emailed and said they missed the end, so the final selling number could have been higher.
Anyway, I’m happy with £15,300
Sad to see it go, but still have the 3MA/RD500LC YZR rep to finish off.

Re: RD500LC for sale

Well, it’s hit the reserve with nearly 400 watchers, and a day and a half to go. I’ll see what happens.
At least the YZR project can get some attention again! Too many projects….

Re: Fuel Tank Liner

Thanks for the reply. Ironically I have also used the Caswell liner in my YZR rep project, but have yet to fill the tank with fuel.
I guess I should have stuck with that brand again…. :???: Never mind, we live & learn. Cheers.

Fuel Tank Liner

I had a tiny fuel weep from one of the welded seams, so decided to use a fuel tank liner. I used Petseal which is supposed to be ethanol resistant, but after only 3 weeks, is already failing as it has gone soft and coming off. I’m tempted to buy the solvent to remove it and try another brand of line...

Ignition Lock Over-haul

Hi, Help please.
All 3 locks use the same key, but the ignition lock is worn, and even with a newly cut key, the key can be removed in the ‘on’ position.
What is the best way to fix? Strip existing barrel and replace ‘tumblers’ or buy another lock and swap/modify tumblers?
Thanks guys.

Re: RD500 493mm Replacement Fork Springs

Personally, I don’t like progressive fork springs and prefer linear. The fork compression action is progressive anyway due to the volume of air that is compressed. I have bought from Sonic Springs in the US, who can make to any dimensions. Maybe give them a try and you can choose a spring rate to gi...

Re: question about front wheel assembly .

If nothing is bent, then I would go with a shim to fill the gap. Production tolerances mean there will alway be a gap to enable easy assembly, but to ensure optimum alignment of the fork bushes etc, then adding a shim is just blue-printing. You could just tighten the spindle and it will probably be ...

Thanks for sharing. Interesting article, strange no 500 Gamma, RC30/45 etc included, but I guess they are already in the ‘A’ list....

Re: OEM Piston rings??

FYI, The piston and ring kit now offered comprises of a TZR125 piston and the 3XC rings, not the original 47X type. No issue, but should be aware.

Re: OEM Piston rings??

If TDR250 or TZR pistons are used (and that is common for the lower cylinders), then yes, you need the different ring type that suits the alternative location pin. I think Yamaha supply these pistons in lieu of the 47X type now as supply of the originals has run out....

Re: Restoration

I think you need the mushroomed heads Alan, the standard allan bolt heads hit the cylinder, I have had to replace a few over the years and always had to get the flat head bolts Seems like there is some variability in the crank cases, as I replaced the domed head with regular capheads and they were ...

Re: Yamaha RZV500R <PULSAR> engine project

Hi fellows. Need your advice to clarify correct dimensions. My crank collars are 35.4mm despite oil seal is 35.00, and thickness 14.6mm. Does anyone have an opportunity to measure yours? Right, i finally found my spare ones, and measured a couple, and they have identical dimensions (digital vernier...

Re: Turfrey Pipes

Something that I did with my Nikons was to ‘dent’ the inner faces of the upper pipes to clear the frame and also as the pipes can move in slightly, give more clearance for the side panels. I know this is sacrilege to modify trick pipes, but mine were 2nd hand anyway. Maybe ‘individual fitment’ is pa...
