Re: RD500 Head Gasket Change
I loosely tighten down the cylinders on all my water cooled bikes, Torque the heads and then fully tighten the cylinder base nuts. I torque the RZ/RZV/RD500 to 18FT/LB, 16 is in the manual. 18 seems to stop leaks and gaskets blowing That's a good tip; torquing the heads before tightening the cylind...

Re: RD500 Head Gasket Change
What sealant did you try? I've rebuilt mine and it seems to use a tiny amount of water everytime i run it. I replaced both head gaskets with oem and still the same. So then i removed the heads again and had them skimmed and then used new oem gaskets but does not seem to have fixed the problem. Not s...

Re: Latest addition....
Needs a good clean and possibly painting. I'll be taking it asunder and cleaning / repairing everything. Frame has a bit of damage where a badly repaired kickstarter wore a small groove into it though the kickstarter has since been replaced. I'll try and buff that out a bit. I might polish the frame...

Re: Over flow radiator
If you run it again after the water has expanded out there will be alot of air in the system. That could result in part or parts of the engine overheating. Just turn your catch tank into a reservoir. Run the overflow pipe into the bottom of your catch tank, put some coolant into the tank so that the...

Re: Tyre age
This seems sensible advice.the bikes are kept in a garage that's relatively cool all year round and i keep the blinds closed. I bought new michelin power rs tyres for my aprilia last week and when i got home i noticed the rear is already 3yrs old. Michelin recommend a shelf life of 5 years so if cor...

Tyre age
https://i.imgur.com/Q6GahcS.jpg Like many of you on here I now have a fairly substantial number of bikes. But I've only recently recognised a slight downside with this; each bike does very low mileage. Some may not get any more than a short spin around the block now and again, maybe less than 200 m...

Re: Finished my project
Hi great looking bike.did you do the headlight yourself👍 Headlight is a combined dip/main beam projector for kit cars. I bought it several years ago. http://imgur.com/gallery/RSYIS3P Similar to this; https://furoreproducts.co.uk/photon-projector-combined I made a tunnel for it out of fibreglass. I ...

Re: Finished my project
The attention to deatail is second to none, Really nice build. Top job.. Re: Replacement oil lines
On the old line , is that definitely the internal diameter all the way through; has the old line stretched where it was on the pipe fitting?
