Thanks rz500guytexas BTW, I stayed in the Woodlands in Houston for 18 months.. The noise is best described as a high-pitched screening sound (I suspect mechanical). Wow, the syncromotor REALLY works! I balanced the carbs (without shutting the balance tubes off) and it only took a few iterations to get all four carbs synced and reading the same - at the desired idle rpm. Even though I thought the original balancing without the syncromotor should be pretty good, ...
