Re: Broadford bike bonanza

Incredible pics, awesome bikes...especially the Vincent's and that billet frame! Thanks for sharing such an awesome event!
I'm sure the RZ was a thrill on full throttle too!

Re: New V4 500cc bike coming in 53 Days, Ronax V4 500!!

My estimate since it's being made in Germany is $75k and up! You ruined it for me. I could have dreamed about it for 49 days 7 hours, 15 minutes. No worries...the dream is still alive, it's only my guess ! If it's only $30k we'll all be lined up to buy one...but there are only 46 to go around...

Re: oil pump

I have agree with Danetrainer who said.... 'oils are certainly light years away form the 80's' So could sticking to old autolude settings, but using modern oils, result in a very rich running bike??? Yes. There is a ton of material on the subject that is gone to history...I don't have the time to s...

Re: oil pump

I remember reading back then of accurate tests performed on pump output with the far right setting (zero throttle to full throttle)...it certainly was still in a range of 40 to 50/1 ratio's. Good info Jackson40, still going to be quite rich with that small of a change...and oils are certainly light ...

Re: oil pump

It's quite simple looking at the manual photo posted by nzminis, the line you see in the photo on the arm to the right of the "hole" I believe it measures about 7mm from the center hole. It required turning the adjuster all the way in on the cable and still it will barely get there. It see...

Re: oil pump

I'm not sure there exists a hard copy document these days...I had just been aware of the change when I was researching things 10 years ago...it was generally excepted as fact. I adjusted mine to this setting when I first got mine and never had any issues...I guess you have to make your own decision ...

If you are adjusting to the "original" marks...then the setting is way too rich. A revised setting was provided from a bulletin from Yamaha
It was revised...never corrected in the actual manual.

Re: No Spark/ Things dont add up..Help.THZ

I also checked some older posts here when I was troubleshooting mine years ago. Smurph stated that the CDI runs directly off the mag and doesn't require the battery. The Ignition switch, kill switch, neutral switch and side stand switch will short to ground to keep it from firing. So you can unplug ...

Re: No Spark/ Things dont add up..Help.THZ

The brown wire feeds 12v into the YPVS control unit. I am concerned that your tapping on it and it cycling reveals an internal fault. (possible cold solder joint on the pcb board). 12v should be sent to the CDI unit on the B/W wire. As for power to the source coils from the CDI, I'm speculating that...

Re: oil pump

i know the mark . that mark is for when the powervalves are closed . so when the bike is running thats the mark that should align so if you set it to that mark when the valves are open . doing the normal turn key check . then you start the bike and look at the marks . the pump will be doing almost ...

Re: No Spark/ Things dont add up..Help.THZ

I've been studying the schematic in the manual...other than the ohms tests the troubleshooting is not helpful unless the bike is running. I believe the brown wire out of the CDI unit should be sending 12v to the stator to excite the source coils. With every thing hooked up and the battery in, ign sw...

Re: No Spark/ Things dont add up..Help.THZ

Just pulled out my manual...yes they are "white" wires that you have on the RZ. It only lists a ohm test across the white wires of .4 in the manual. Pick up coil resistance: 112 ohms White/Green to White/Red wires in the stator loom. Source coil: 127 ohm Red to Green wires & 18.8 ohms ...
