temp gauge

I had a similar problem with mine and it was a dodgy connection to the top of the sender unit. I straightened and cleaned it all up and its worked fine ever since.

powder coat

I used to work for a surgical instrument manufacturer a few years back and when the cocked up the plastic coating on some of the instruments they used to burn it off with a gas torch. Best not to do it indoors though, the smell makes your eyes water.

Had a set in mine for 5000 miles with no issues. Stan Stephens did the bores and recommended them.

keyster kits

I have the Keyster kits in my 500 and have done 5k with them. When I first fitted them the bottom fell off of one emulsion tube as it was incorrectly made (the threaded hole for the main jet was too deep). I phoned up the supplier and he replaced all the emulsion tubes for free with correctly made i...

impeller

Remove the drive gear and pin and pull the impeller out.
You will see the seal and bearing. Make sure the impeller shaft doesn't have a groove worn in it where the seal sits or a new seal may not cure the problem.

plug fouling

I had the same issue a while back. I spent a long time removing carbs, checking fuel and float levels and all the jets etc. Turned out to be a faulty coil. I did all the usual stuff. New plugs cured the problem for a while but after a few hundred miles it would foul the plug again. Swapped the leads...

plugs

Good to meet you on sunday Mark. Bike looks fantastic. It was a shock to see a 500lc go up the strip! Im more used to hearing the triples go up there. I had the same prolem on my standard bike. It turned out to be a coil breaking down, but each time a plug went a new one would sort the problem out. ...

cranks

Stan built my cranks a few years ago. Being curious I put them up on my lathe to measure the runout and what I found wasn't worth measuring, as good as spot on and no vibrations at all whn running. I spoke to him about a tune and he talked me out of it in the end as he didn't think in my case it was...
