Re: long time away
Hi Alex, its so good to hear from you! As I was reading "there is a lot of excitement in this period in italy" I also have my tv on utube and the first race Live from Daytona pops up. Its race 1 of the Supper Hooligan series. My friend Cory West got 3rd on a Harley that looked to be overhe...

Re: How Are These Pipes Made?
Smoker, Theres a killer post at KiwiBiker with a bunch of current and former 2T tuners discussing tuning commuter bikes into kart track racers. The software used and being developed is EngMod2T. If you start at the last page and work backwards 100 pages you will know enough to make your brain hurt. ...

Re: Ordered smartcarbs
Anyways, continued the leaning process, and the bike was running finer than it ever has -up to about 7000 rpm. So I ordered a different set of metering rods, richer grind for top end. Replacing these, from the top of the carbs, while still mounted on the bike, was incredibly easy. Sadly the net res...

Re: My 84 RZ500 Suspension Upgrade
This has been a subject for years. I am not on here since riding the TZ more. The R6 stuff worked and was a proven aftermarket choice. The R1 components seem an overkill and I would think weigh more that the R6 parts. The swingarm on mine is 2006. None of us will never outride the stock RZ as it ca...

Re: My 84 RZ500 Suspension Upgrade
What Jeff said. 6061 is too soft for a steering stem and 2024 or 7075 don't weld or you wouldn't want to if structural. When I was racing an FZ750 in the 80's I was told by a Yamaha team mechanic to leave out 1 of the 2 ring nuts and washer between the top bearing and top triple clamp to make it mor...

Re: Steve Parrish's F1 bike
That bike was built by guys addicted to the glory days of racing we know so well. The RD 500 was coming out and they were building GP bikes already so the possibility of a production bike motor maybe being capable of near GP spec had to be tested right now. I don't think the street RG500 was known a...

Re: Steve Parrish's F1 bike
Well thats about as cool as it can get! No one on this side of the pond put a big effort into building them to that level. Maybe they did up towards Canada but us southerners weren't aware of it. There's a lot of old races from UK on utube and i've looked for Steve on this bike but not picked him ou...

Re: Gudgeon Pins / Strange Wear Pattern
All 4 look like that?? Well the pin should slip around in a warm piston. That should keep it from showing uneven wear. It looks like the bearing cage is dragging at the ends and my bet is distorted or just badly made cage

Re: Mikuni tm28s
Hi Jeff, I was hoping the more elaborate my response is the simpler the fix will be. Like yeah a cable end was hanging out. HaHa Steve, I hope your better at jetting than me but if you decide to go leaner on needle jets at $75 a set I have at least 3 sets of leaner ones I can mail you to try. When I...

Re: The Keihin PWK28 Carb. Thread
Good to see you climbing back on the bike Hybrid! There seem to be PWK 28 needles that came stock in 85 mx bikes but aren't on generic parts lists, don't have searchable numbers because Honda, Kaw, Suz, Yam. You can measure the top diameter with a micrometer. If the taper is too close to tell by eye...

Re: Eminent Domain questions
So is a hiway going through your house? I only have a handfull of long distance friends in planet Houston and you've been there a long time so i'm sure you know how it goes down. There is a new turnpike loop going around the south east corner of Oklahoma City and the state can't confirm any legality...

Re: Mikuni tm28s
Hi Steve, I'll give it a go but i'm still learning so free advice might not be worth much. I get sidetracked too. Back in the day racing mx there were a few bikes with hang idle issues. Changing jets and clips didn't help. Then there would be a tech paper at the bike shop or so an so did some nation...
