Re: Fuel Filter Outlet - don't get ripped off!
Yes unfortunately 3 years ago these were still available but people where trying to sell them like they were hard to find, fast forward and these are NLA now and getting pricey! Here is a NOS one for $60 USD shipped from Singapore https://www.ebay.com/p/Yamaha-RD500-Fuel-Filter-Assy-NOS-RZ500-RZV500...

Re: Tire Size For R6 Swing Arm Conversion
I would select the tire for the handling characteristics and then do the ride height through the suspension, either an adjustable shock, adjustable links or just weld the brackets on the swingarm where you want them for ride height (still would be nice to have something adjustable in the equation fo...

Re: Alternate gas cap.
Not sure if this helps, but what I can tell you is that the early FZR600 caps fit the RZ, the difference was that the FZ had a plastic cover over the tank, so the cap sits up higher if you put it on the RZ, but it is useable and I am thinking the FZR600 had a lot more aftermarket support and race pa...

Re: Fuel Filter Outlet - don't get ripped off!
check out the TZR250 3MA filter. It bolts into the RZ500 gas tank and it has a shut off. It comes in handy if you have to remove the tank. those are a good idea, I am running quick disconnects in line which are off when removed to make it easier to remove tank but the txt shutoff is equally good I ...

Re: Decided to make my own choke throttle etc cables
The motion pro one is lined, if you purchase from flanders you have to buy the outer and lining separately. With the RZ, there are so many cables it is cost effective, 4 choke cables, 4 throttle cables (I am running TM28's) and the injection cables - pays off, if you just need one or 2 cables, cheap...

Fuel Filter Outlet - don't get ripped off!
Noticed on ebay lately the fuel filter outlet assembly is going for stupid money - used ones for near $100 bucks, NOS from Singapore for $85 etc - it is a 47X part number but is widely available and was used on other models than the RZ500. I just got a new one from boats.net 47X-24560-00-00 $22.96 h...

Re: Decided to make my own choke throttle etc cables
More pics, I just use a little RTV to keep the caps on, some people say you don't need to do anything as they are retained once the cable is in place, after market ones they usually just dimple in a few places with a center punch, OEM are crimped but can't find a crimper anywhere that will work. Aft...

Decided to make my own choke throttle etc cables
I decided to pay 50 a pop for custom cables was too much and made a bunch of my own for much less and now have some skills to do it! I bought all the parts from motion pro - they hide it a bit on a page that is hard to find to replenish the kit you bought from them but you can get it all individual ...

Wiring harness connector sources
Now that the harness is NLA I figure most of us will be fixing old harnesses, I realized I didn't see any info posted on this, so wanted to post up a few sources I have been using to replace old connectors that have broken clips, bad connections etc etc. First, you need a pin extractor - I got this ...
Re: fuel leak
You may have 2 issues, the first is what VIN mentioned is that your petcock is definitely letting fuel past when the bike is not running. The petcock uses vacuum to allow fuel flow, but the seal on the front side of the petcock has probably worn or deteriorated and is letting fuel through even with ...

Re: Going to switch to premix - jetting recommendations plea
I originally got it from RG500.com about 10 years ago, not sure if he was getting them from Steve or not. If it sits for a month I get a bit of oil built up in the bottom corner opposite side from outlet, seems a pinhole in one of the welds and I get a wetness on the swingarm. Bill, I will send some...

Going to switch to premix - jetting recommendations please
My YZR replica is getting closer to being able to move on it's own power. I originally bought an underseat oil tank but it leaks and get's in the way and has a stupid large nipple at a dumb angle, so thinking of just ditching the injection (I won't drive it much and my other street bike is a premix ...

Re: Choke cables!
Exactly Bill, there is no technical issue they work fine, just don't have as much pull so the cables are slack and I wanted it to work like stock, no slack and opens with the lever all the way out. Rob This is really a personal preference issue. The throw of the handle opens the plungers enough to a...
