Re: Rear Cylinders
I had the bike new in 1985/87 and can't recall overheating issues or Yamaha doing a recall to fix the issue. So is it something users are doing with mods to the engine tune that are causing the issue? I think the biggest difference between then and now is pump fuel quality. Has anyone heard of a bu...

Source for transmission seal 93104-20084
Does anyone know of a source for the transmission seal 93104-20084? It is one of the last parts I need for my RZV engine rebuild.
Does anyone know the specs of the seal, or know of a substitute seal from another model that will work?

Re: Offset key for upper crankshaft
I assume the TDR pistons Yamaha currently specifies as replacements for the fronts would not produce any offset?

Re: Ivans needles
Does anyone have any feedback on Ivan's needle jets/emulsion tubes?
I need a set for derestricting a RZV and the OEM RZ500 parts are proving pretty difficult to track down.

Re: Time for first oversize or not?
When I recommended using the Std bore cylinders as-is, I was comparing their 56.425mm dimension to the manual's upper limit of 56.5mm mentioned by Speed Freak, and neglected actually doing the math to determine clearance. 56.425mm bore - 56.345mm piston = 0.080mm clearance Yeah, that's getting up th...

Re: Time for first oversize or not?
I would be very hesitant to bore a cylinder that is within tolerance for it's current bore size. Especially uppers.... Especially just to run cheap pistons... I seem to remember at least a couple specific instances of Mitaka piston seizures on this forum. Not saying the Mitakas were the culprit, but...

Re: Time for first oversize or not?
More than one year has passed... As the temperature is going up again I went to my garage and used the parts washing machine which I have fixed over winter  After I have cleaned the parts I took them to the company and measured it. What should I say? The maximum diameter measured was 56,42...
