Re: Ride Height 17" rear

6mm is not very much. That must be a mistake. That’s not even worth adjusting. Mine has roughly 30/40mm. Maybe even 50mm at the bottom clevice. I don’t know the eye to eye distance, but that wouldn’t really matter as it adjusts in or out. Due to the linkage having a magnification effect, 6mm at the...

Re: Lighter Crank Flywheels / Stator ?

I have used a Motoplat ignition on a 350LC and that had a small/minimal flywheel, which was tiny when compared to stock. Ran great, but no charging capability... With the RD500 crank geometry and their relatively high polar inertia, I would suggest that the stock flywheel is almost superfluous, apar...

Re: Cylinder Head gasket

I use the Permatex spray on gasket sealant.
Again, not cheap, but helps the OEM gaskets to seal.
I know it should not be needed, but given the price of OEM head gaskets these days, some sealant adds some insurance..!

Re: Oil leak with sprocket cover off !!!

UPDATE I'm now convinced it's because the two holes arrowed use the sprocket cover bolts to also hold on the gearbox oil cover and when the bolts are removed it lets the oil pump cover relax a little and the oil gets into the holes, hence the little bit of oil we see. What do you think? https://www...

Re: Ivans needles, with initial settings....surging in lower gears

I think all 47X & 1GE carbs have 2.0 slide cutaways. Only the 51X had the 1.5
The cutaways affect 1/8-1/4 throttle openings, and provide the transition from the pilot circuit onto the needle system.
So maybe 2.0 slide cutaways are worth a go....
Good luck!!!

+1, this is how it is meant to be. Seems odd, but ‘they are all like that sir’.

Re: 6th gear selection problem

That localized wear is exactly what I was referring to. Not sure if this center track (which is Shift Fork #2) is for 6th gear. I suggest that if it is, then this wear, coupled with (perhaps) slight rounding of the sharp dog edges and the corresponding slots in the adjacent mating gear, can mean not...

Re: 6th gear selection problem

Sorry to hear that your 6th gear is misbehaving. I would recheck the selector drum, as the actual portions of the tracks that move each selector fork are quite localised. A little wear on the 6th gear track, where it’s bend is situated, which moves the shift fork, can cause the dogs not to engage pr...

Re: Brake Line Bore

How about getting them from China? https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ty4Hy I don't anticipate a catastrophic failure, but any leakage would be bad news with the carbon fiber wheels. FYI. I was unfortunate enough to have a leak of DOT4 brake fluid onto my rear BST carbon wheel. The fluid was there for a few...

Re: Ride Height Adjustment Question

Thanks for posting the image. I see what you are referring to. I’ve got a 3MA frame, so the engine position etc is unlikely to be exactly in the same place as stock RZ, when considering the swingarm pivot. With the bike unladen, the clearance where yours has rubbed looks similar, but with me onboard...
