RZV500R using Ivans Performance Jet KIt etc
I finally got around to treating my deristricted RZV to an Ivans Performance Products Jet Kit (along with New OEM Replica Emulsion tubes that Ivan has had remanufactured) and have been amazed at the improved throttle response at low to mid throttle openings. As my bike has the stock air box and 47x ...

RZV500R Oil Tank Capacity
Hi Guys, can any one advise me on the capacity of the single 2T Oil Tank fitted to my bike? I appreciate that RD models had an additional(aux) tank, and have read somewhere that the Japanese designers wanted to keep the weight down as much as possible for the Japanese home market, hence the RZV500R ...

Re: J L pipes power gain versus Stock System?
Hi Begbie, Thanks for that info! It seems quite amazing that none of the after market exhaust manufacturers provide back to back dyno figurers. I did briefly own an RD350 YPVS F2 that had Gibsons on it and the mid range was lousy on it compared to my mates bike that had the stock system in place. I ...

J L pipes power gain versus Stock System?
Hi Back in the 70's when I bought a set of J & R expansion chambers for my Yamaha RD350b the manufacturer claimed that by using the appropriate jetting their pipes would lift the peak power by around 12 bhp. Without being able to access a dyno back then, it was hard to determine if that was true...

Re: Anyone using Ivan's Performance jetting kit?
Hi Blobber, I think that is a generic photo, and looking closely I think its for a Kawasaki ZX? or similar! I didn't have to do any drilling on my Kawasaki triple and I'd be surprised if you had two on an RZV500R. I seem to recall reading that on USA specific (4 stroke) bikes fitted with CV carburet...

Re: Anyone using Ivan's Performance jetting kit?
Hi Blobber, I got to know Ivan via the phone 3 years ago when I contacted him to discuss the possibility of me buying a Jet kit for my Kawasaki Triple H2 750. At that time SG MotorSport didn't supply this kit direct via his website as Ivan doesn't do a trade deal on it, so I bought it from Ivan dire...

Hi Tom,
I recently purchased an RZV500R, and have found your excellent site really helpful. I have just sent a donation of $25.00 via paypal.

Re: Seal Check?
Did you change the gear oil change after spraying solvent into your gearbox and clutch ?If not you may have damaged the oil inside the gearbox which in turn could damage/wear your clutch/transmission and bearings! I don't understand which seal you are trying to test?

That's a very good point! I like your you-tube videos by the way, your can see/hear how well the bike runs across the rev range.

Newbie's seat refurbishment questions!
Hi, can anyone recommend a good replacement seat cover for my RZV500R that is on a par with the OEM cover used by Yamaha back in the day? Also has anyone got around to producing new seat foams yet? I recently picked up a good used RD500 seat(with a decent foam and nice fittings) as a spare that's in...

Anyone using Ivan's Performance jetting kit?
Hi, I have been contemplating using an Ivan's Performance Jet kit on my de-restricted RZV500R that is fitted with 47X exhausts, and wondered if anyone is using one? I have used one of Ivan's kits successfully on a 72 Kawasaki H2 triple, and was impressed by the way his kit cleared up the lousy stand...

Re: Newbie with a question about the Headlamp!
Hi Dave, I decided to used 5 wt oil as that's what Yamaha recommend in their service data, and yes my anti-dive is still connected. Rather than strip the forks as the seals are still good, I drained them via the screws at the bottom of each leg and added fresh oil in the usual manner. However bearin...

Re: Newbie with a question about the Headlamp!
OK thanks for the tip, I'll try one of the Osram Night Racer 110 Halogen's and see if that helps.
