I found this neat little piece of ingenuity and I can say it works great, is cheap to make, and can come apart easily for storage. I hung my 500 on it for months during resto. I made 2 - enough for both ends of the bike, but if you only want to support one end at a time, like for fork work etc, set ...

Problem #1 sounds like the clutch is slipping by your description. Problem #2, are you sure it's coming out of gear? If it is, most likely the trans needs to come out for inspection, worn dogs, shift forks worn or bent, etc. Clutch slip will also factor in. The 500 has a pretty stout tranny, it's ne...

I have a German made air flow sync tool, much like those shown. I have used it on the bike as well, and it made a big difference once I got it right, mostly in the smoothness of the engine when cruising. They do work.

We may be in the anti 2-stroke state of California, but these 2 strokes get ridden. rztom http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r46/zalienz/CM_61276.jpg rzmax http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r46/zalienz/CM_61278.jpg zalienz http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r46/zalienz/CM_61279.jpg oldguy http://i1...

Man, what a great day. Special thanks to Tom for hosting the event and showing us around his area roads. Despite Tom's self proclaimed "ample persona", he can easily hold his own on two wheels in the twisties. I had a lot of fun trying to keep up with him. It was really fun having 4 500's ...

what's the bad things on Lomas exhaust ? I've heard that the top pipes are too long and they won't allow the engine to rev past 6500. Nick Someone's messing with you, Nick. If anything the top pipes are too short. I have Lomas stainless on mine and the thing's still yanking my arms out of the socke...

Interesting post, thanks.

It seems I have 1 of the 882 Aussie models here in the states.

I find the letter interesting in the RZ/RD designation, where it says Z= liquid cool, D= air cool. Do you RD500 owners have air cooled models? :smt017

The output shaft bearing is still available from Yamaha, pricey, or can also be found aftermarket as a KBC bearing, #6206Z. The output seal is a Yamaha item also. 2 of the 4 main trans bearings are NLA and I have not found any cross-reference anywhere. Someday soon, the time will come when somebody ...
