Re: No Spark

Hi everyone, I posted an electrical problem I was having with my bike and would like to thank everyone who replied. I have been having the same problem for a couple of years in that my bike would be fine one day and the next "no spark", I also had times where I did have a spark but it was ...

Re: No Spark

I tried the kill switch and the ignition looks to be working fine.

I don't have a side stand switch, I disconnected the control unit as per the manual.

Unfortunately I cannot get it running as I have absolutely no spark It was running before I had the carb leak, took all carbs off, cleaned and fitted in line check valves f...

Re: Pre-mix or oil tank

Thanks to everyone who replied to my plea for help, I have ordered the inline check valves as everyone has suggested, once fitted I will tweak the pump cable a little to see if this helps also.

Again thanks to everyone for their help.

Re: Pre-mix or oil tank

Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it. What inline check valves would I fit and where would I get them? As you say the drivers following behind must think what on earth is in front of them, although the bike runs great the oil out the pipes is pretty sticky and messy I just thought I had too mu...

Pre-mix or oil tank

Hi guys, I have been having trouble with my RD500 since its restoration, I am struggling with the age old problem of 2 stroke oil or how to get the correct amount in to the engine. My bike has had a thorough restoration with the engine being re-built by Stan Stephens, however, I have the 2 stroke pu...

Re: Carb Removal

Thanks Phildu, one problem is that the screw for the bottom carbs on each side point forward towards the radiator and it is impossible to get the smallest of screwdrivers in, should these screws be upward pointing?

Carb Removal

Hi guys, first off hope everyone has a great Xmas. I have the age old problem of a leaking carb, I was hoping to remove the carbs by simply removing the air filter and unscrewing the 2 long screws, however, I can't get to one of these screws to loosen it, as it is such a long time ago when I put thi...

Re: PV Control Box HELP

This is where the confusion arises for me, when viewing any online videos they all tell the same story, the valves are in the closed position when the ignition key is in the off position (see attached link), it also shows the oil pump being set up which is also in the closed position when ignition k...

Re: PV Control Box HELP

Engine is stopped and turn off the ignition key , valves remain open. When ignition key is turned on the valves go from open to close to open again where they stay when engine is idling. Oil pump is at half open position when engine is turned off at the ignition key, when ignition key is turned on t...

Re: PV Control Box HELP

Many thanks for the reply,
As my valves stay open (when ignition is turned off) would you put this down to the PV Controller, or is there something else that could be causing the fault.
I have ruled out the servo motor as this checks out ok.
