Re: coil earthing

So at the end of the day, can I just fasten coil to the bike or steel bracket + bolts are mandatory for good working of the coils?

coil earthing

Hi.
I am wondering if the coils are earthed by black wire enoughs and they are bolted just for solid and neat assemby,
or the bolts are really needed for grounding.

Thanks for explaining me.

Re: pick up gap

First thing, thanks a lot to motolli and steveho. Second, when i went into it in order to get measurements, i looked closer and noticed shiny stripes on both bumps on the rotor, shiny in the sense of rotation. I took measurements and gap is... 0,15 mm. So, it was not too much, but too thin. So much ...

pick up gap

Hi guys. Please tell me how to check measurement and eventually reduce pick up gap from rotor assy. I have rigged outer case down and from what i see, i cannot imagine a method of checking gap, being stator and rotor apart. Nor how to eventually reduce the gap, as its two screws does not seem to hid...

1st oversize

Hi. 1) about 1st oversize, Yambits says that their ring kit https://yambits.co.uk/rd500-piston-ring-kit-025mm-p-75987.html , which is really a Rilken 1KT-B 0.25 unit, "should" match stock Yamaha +0,25 piston. Before I order 4 kits, what is your opinion? 2) in my basement I found a 2YK-1163...

Darrell wrote: Sat Jul 04, 2020 8:00 pm Hey Franco! Did you sort that problem out yet? I'm curious what you found.
Hi Darrell,
I took a lot of time off (due to delusion too) and concentrated myself elsewhere.
I will renew my attack in the next days.

1601pete wrote: Sun Jun 28, 2020 7:51 pm Have you confirmed you have a good spark on all 4 cylinders with the “same” spark plug or the plug destined for each individual cylinder?
Hi, I checked with plugs destined for each individual cylinder
and saw the sparking "simultaneously".

Re: lower bank does not fire up

Darrell, I do agree with your overall approach.
About fuel section, I will try syringing fuel, or another set of carburetors.

Re: lower bank does not fire up

Latest try: I left upper and lower coil linked to their original harness places, but reversed plug cables routes: upper coil now feeded lower cylinders and viceversa. Result... again upper cylinders roaring and lower cyls silent.. This should say CDI is not guilty, as if it was, I should have now lo...

Re: lower bank does not fire up

Ok, I'll swap them, general thanks for advices, mates.
Anyway I had checked readings, they were good, and put another coil (with good redings too) from another 500.
But I will try swapping upper-lower.
