Re: More testing on TZ at COTA

Paul, Frank Schoenbeck here to talk you down from the wall, so I have to tell a story. This is my 3rd year racing my TZ250B with AHRMA (#25). The year before that I did the AHRMA riders school using a 450 single in a TZR250 frame, and rode a number of events with that bike. My first race of the firs...

Re: BARBER MOTORSPORTS with RZV 500 and TZ 250

I will be racing at Barber as well. I have a 3YL TZ250B so first year of the v-twin. My bike is red and white #25S. I am riding the Thursday practice, Open 2-stroke and Sound of Thunder 2 both Saturday and Sunday. I might ride the Trials on Friday, so I better get my bike ready. I have a 1977 TY250D...

0W60 Article in Motorcycle Classics May/June 2020

This month's Motorcycle Classics (May/June 2020) magazine has an article about the 0W60. I knew about the bike, but not very much about it's history, so it is a very good read for me. I thought I would bring it to attention if others have an interest.

Re: Solving the stock shock /linkage layout challenge

It is a bit difficult for me to see the position of the linkage when the swing-arm is in the usable range of motion. In my distorted view it looks like the triangle connected to the swing-arm is too far forward not ever allowing the link connected to the shock to become perpendicular to the ground. ...

Great idea with the TDM hugger. Do you happen to have a photo or two?

Thanks, Frank

Re: fuel quick release

When I want to take off the tank I disconnect the petcock from the carb hose. Then leave the petcock connected to the tank. I don't think it is very messy.

Re: Barber event

We had a nice time at Barber, but it sure was hot. I fell in my first race, but my other three were a blast. In the second 2-stroke race I was able to stick with a group of 5 riders for about a lap and a half, probably the best I have ever done. Riding with other 2-strokes is great as we take much m...

Re: Barber event

Today was practice for me at Barber. Practice is available tomorrow as well, but I am going to see what else is going on. On Saturday and Sunday I am in race 12 - open two-stroke and race 14 - sound of thunder 2. Both on my '91 tz250 25S. Stop and say hi if you see my bike. I am on the second level ...

Re: Caliper seal kit

The front calipers on my 91 TZ are the differential bore nissin and so are the ones on my RG. My rg ones are from the GSX katanas. Tucker Rocky lists 32-7378 for the Suzuki. I have not tried them, but the Piston diameters measure correct.

Re: Caliper seal kit

I think they are the same as many mid-eighties Suzuki street bikes. GSX katanas come to mind. I may have some notes in my shop. Frank

I will be at the vintage festival from Wednesday through Sunday. I don't have room for an RZ or an RG but I will be riding practice on Thursday racing Sat/Sun. 91 red and white TZ250 #25s. Say hi if you see me.

Re: My Insurance has been cancelled!!!!

I have progressive liability insurance on a few of my older bikes and some of those are not US imports either, strange VIN numbers and all. My recollection is that they will not do full coverage if the bike is over 30 years old, if I remember the story correctly. I had a 1986 Yamaha SRX-6 that I had...

Re: Tyre age

Automobile related comment. Just an FYI Just last week I had new tires and wheels put on my 1965 Ranchero. We overestimated the amount of room we had available and the in stock tires rubbed while turning. To get home, they put my original rims with new tires back on. My old tires were over ten years...

Re: RD500 Fork Preload Spacers

I have purchased a couple race tech spring kits recently and they had aluminum tubing for preload spacers. I also have some from over the years that did have pvc pipe.. Interesting.
