The TZR & RZ500 need the head gasket to baffle the water ways, not a smart idea to remove them IMO. They are baffled to direct the water down into the barrels, your just wash the water straight over the barrels and reduce cooling if removed. You can get .9mm squish and 14:1 or higher with a good...

Most pipe builders I have spoken to seem to think that there are good gains to be made from custom pipes (as opposed to off the shelf aftermarket) because the original designs were all based around fitting under the stock bodywork. Apparently bigger bellies are really required to get the best power...

I've made a couple of pipes before

In fact I'm hoping once the wife is better to get on with some RZ500 pipes as I now have a bike to build them off.

As for having a go, do it.......... there is a design and it is a good one linked in this thread.

One of the problems with the RZ/RD500 is that it's two different engine graphed into one. The lower case fed part of the engine is basically a TZR 1kt/2ma, and the upper is a RZ/RD 250 cylinder fed engine. This creates a problem when trying to change the cylinders, as the lower case volume is for a ...

Thermally limited, you need to make 2Kw to produce 1Kw of power and the RZ500 can't get rid of the heat.

Transfer ducts are.............................shit, single exhaust port upper and lower. Pipe belly is to small just can't fit a bigger one in, and the list goes on lol.

Looking forward to seeing this thing run with the triple ports, ...

The main difference between SS and mild pipe is the W/m/K thermal value of the material, they will tend to shift the whole curve to the right and loose a little midrange if the same pipe design is used. But I don't know if JL or anyone else uses a thicker gage SS to compensate. The lowers with air m...

Yeah they are indeed the knock off's lol. The castings are OK but the internals are junk. Stock carbs are fine, The carb is not a restriction to making power, A 28mm PWK can produce 55hp/cylinder as a example. Larger carbs can work better if the engine is kept in the power band. But for a road bike ...

I think he was looking to try OKO carbs, I've never had anything but trouble with anything thats had them fitted, I think I read that a guy on here was going to use them.

Their are two pipes to try, one for a stock motor, but to get the best out of the pipe you will have to raise the exhaust .50mm. Some may live with the double dip and not even notice it. And the other you would have to have it ported, there is just no getting away that the STA's are incorrect. The s...

Good point And in regard to:- I was considering buying a set of lomas pipes but from what I have read it sounds like they are worse than stock??? I am rather dissapointed with pipe builders around at the moment:- RZ/RD500 pipes £1000+, just buy our pipes and hope for the best! While i don't expe...
