Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

Thanks! I've talked to Nigel, Steve and to my machinist... We're going to go one of three routes - 1) Nigel recons that he modifies the R6 stem without issue (shortens, re-machines the bearing surfaces and then re-cuts threads), so I know that there is a way. 2) Steve can turn down a new stem, but d...

Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

Well, I am out hunting for the 3MA steering-stem, but no luck so far. I also posted here, over on the 350 forum and in the TZR forums. If anybody here has one, that would be greatly appreciated. Is there any way to just modify to fit and utilize the R6 stem efficiently. Anything can be made to work ...

Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

Hhmmm... Well, at least the stem should be okay. I think I'll just send hom the stem for now. Still, I seem to recall that part of Steve's service is to relocate the turn-stops, no? For that, he needs the lower clamp as well. I'll have to find the lower clamp that i want to use and send that after t...

Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

So the part came in and I am getting ready to send it to RGVSteve with the 3MA frame and swing however - This is an '04 lower clamp and stem - it's not from an inverted fork bike... So, if I want to run inverted forks, then I shouldn't send this lower clamp to Steve - I mean, these holes look SMALL ...

Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

You must mean upper and lower clamps...? :) What happened to good ol' fashioned "head-stem and frame neck"...?

Boot - Trunk
Bonnet - Hood
Cubbyhole - Glove Box
Robot - Traffic Signal
Pavement - Sidewalk

Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

Thanks! Yeah, I can do that... So, this is what I bought - and this was the description; "03-08 Yamaha R6 R6S Lower Triple Tree Clamp Bracket Bottom Straight OEM 8974" Item Removed From: 2004 R6 Item will fit: 2003-04 R6 2006-08 R6S Does Not Fit 2005 R6 - I was only interested in the yoke ...

Re: "TZV500R" Retro Rebuild;

Front is done! Ended up being a bit closer to a 5MM spacing for the caliper bracket - 5MM IN - from the mounting ears on the inside of the forks... (The discs still have the +4MM spacers behind them on the wheel hub left and right, and that's maxed out before the disc carrier centers pop off of the ...

Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

My main concern was if any of the stock yokes fit any of the yokes (whether pressed in, or secured by the clip...) Thanks, I think my question is answered. I'll buy a yoke (many actions show '03, '04 and then '06, '07, '08, '09 etc... For some reason '05 models almost always appears to be excluded i...

Re: R6 Yoke Differences?

Thanks. I guess that the bottom line is simply this; one can press the yoke from any of those years into the lower clamp from any of those years...?

How is it secured? Press fit only!? Seems dicey.

R6 Yoke Differences?

Quick question; for the 3MA build, I'm hunting for a yoke. It seems like the guys on eBay make some sort of a distinction in the 2005 model years (and for some - in 2006...?) What's that all about? I'm only pourchasing the yoke right now to send to Steve for conversion, but I don't want to end up bu...

Re: 3MA GP Tribute Build; V4 or Big-Bore Twin?

Cool - thanks!

My first guess was 4TW4 - just from some other close-ups that I saw... Not sure what the diameter of the axle is. Can one tell from that measurement.

Good luck with your build too - the custom stuff really takes it outta ya.

Re: 3MA GP Tribute Build; V4 or Big-Bore Twin?

Thanks guys! Yeah, it's just money - they're printing more as we speak, right...? :???: Anyway, here's the banana swingger. I took a stab at the year, make and model already; can somebody else here please confirm or correct with certainty. I'm about to ship this off to RGVSteve with the 3MA frame. h...

Re: "TZV500R" Retro Rebuild;

So, even with spacing the rotors out by 4mm (the maximum before the rotor centers run right off of the bloody hub of the Ducati wire wheels), the Blue R1 calipers were STILL hitting the spokes on the back sets of pistons. Fine - I'll use them for the 3MA GP replica build...) So, I HAD to go with the...

Re: "TZV500R" Retro Rebuild;

Thanks - yeah - it's a-LOT of work! So many little fiddle-shit details... On the front for example, we started out sleeve-bumping up the Yamaha axle-bolt, so that I could just keep the bearings inside of the front wire wheel all Ducati and use the Duc wheel spacers! Problem was then that you end up ...
