Hi Paul you can buy plunger kits for the Mikuni carbs. Thay come with adjusters.
I found also that you need to go much bigger on the main jets than standard.

Hi Ron, if you haven't fixed the problem yet try a simple test.
When the engine stops remove the fuel tank cap, turn the fuel tap to prime then try starting.
The breather in the cap is very small so can block easily.

Yeah, I'm happy with that.
Increasing the slide cutaway made a massive difference to the bottom end, but I'm still thinking of going to Keihin's.

Finally got sick of trying to tune on the road so got a friend to spend a day on the dyno. I had so many problems using the wrong oil, the bike seemed to be to rich but in fact was to lean. If you soak the fuel lines in petrol for a day or 2 they will soften again.
