Seat Base Cleaning

My RZV500R seat base is very grubby and the grime seems to be ingrained into the white plastic.
I have tried all the usual cleaning products, but cannot seem to get a decent finish.

I remember this being a problem on my 350LC plastic oil tank as well.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Re: Red & black paint code & decals

Hi, I don't know the actual paint codes but the colours are 'New Yamaha Black' and 'Stormy Red'. You can get Aerosols and Touch-ups at http://www.rsbikepaint.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (I should be on commision as this is the second time I have recommended them!) ch...

OEM Parts Availability!

Maybe I'm dreaming, but I think Yamaha (and all the other bike manufacturers) are missing a trick, regarding their policy to OEM parts supply and availability for 'old' bikes. From my experience over the years, I reckon that serious restorers, and people that just want to keep their bikes on the roa...

Paint Codes

Not sure what the actual original paint codes are, but the colours are 'silky white' and 'stormy red' for a UK RD500LC.
You can get the paint form either RS Bikepaint or Bike Colours, both can be found on the internet.

Wheel Colour

My wheels are looking tatty and the previous owner had tried to polish the front rims, but hadn't done a very good job! I Just wanted to get a few opinions on whether to repaint them white or change to gloss or satin black? I can't decide which would look the best. http://i1106.photobucket.com/album...

Heat Shield

I understand that either version of the undertank heat shield are NLA ie. 1GE-2117G-00 or 47X-24731-00 My bike has nothing there at all! Therefore, I think I will have to cobble one together myself. Can anyone give any advice on how this could be achieved? Will just a piece of heat resistant materia...

Tamiya RZV500R Plastic Model

Just to let everyone know that Tamiya have recently re-released the RZV500R plastic model kit (ref 14037)! Any decent model retailer should have it.

I have just purchased two, one to make as standard, and one to try and replicate my modified bike!

Yeah, the font is different!
Apologies, but there was a typo in my original post....the bike was first registered in 1988 and not 1998! I suppose that doesn't make much difference though, the frame number appears to be re-stamped!

I will take a photo of the engine number.....

Yeah, I will see what I can do......I am working away from home at the moment so the bike is in my mate's garage for 'fettling' ie. getting it started and MOT tested!!

Watch this space!

Bike Identification Mystery!!

I have what I think is a Japanese import RZV500R. I have a Japanese Bike Licence indicating that it was manufactured in 1985 but not first registered until 1998. My UK DVLC V5C Form says that the bike was first registered in the UK in 2004. It has an alloy frame and the fuel level indicator feature....

RS Bike Paint in the UK can supply it in touch up or aerosol. Contact them via www.rsbikepaint.com

RZV500R Paint Codes

Hi, this is probably old hat, but although there are some previous posts describing paint codes for Canadian RZs and Euro RDs, I cannot find any reference to the paint codes or names for the Japanese RZV500R.

Any advice?
